Takoma Park JazzFest held its 14th annual Jazz Brawl at McGinty’s Public House in downtown Silver Spring, Saturday February 13; 2:30-6 PM.  After previewing dozens of possibilities, three groupswere selected to compete for a top spot at the JazzFest June 13 in downtown Takoma Park.  

Performers

BLUES CONDITION  is a Washington-based five member group.  Hot blues and mix of roots music. Dan Aylestock on bass guitar, Kenny Gott on drums, Dave Gorozdos on keys, Larry Benade on guitar, and singer Kim Elliott.

 

THE MIKE TERPAK BLUES EXPLOSION is a Northern Virginia--based quartet. The band explodes with virtuoso guitar work by Bill Kotapish, hard driving rhythm by drummer Brian Alpert and bassist Scott McMahon, and dynamic organ and vocals by Mike Terpak.

 

ICARUS is a Silver Spring-area band that is led by Dan Jenkin offering a wide-range of modern and old line jazz.  Everett Corbin III – Saxophone; Tony Donnelly – Guitar; Jay Marciano - Piano/Keyboard; Devon Petty – Bass; Dan Jenkin - Drums  Brawl Producer: Bruce Krohmer; Host: Tim Master WPFW FM; Judge: Fred Foss
