TheWinning band gets a spot on the JazzFest stage Sunday June 10
We had a great afternoon of jazz - good lively atmosphere .
After some great sets Slick Hampton was named winner but 3AM Groove was named runner
up and will also appear at the June 10 JazzFest
.
3AM Groove consists of 7 high school students who have been playing together for
the past two years. They have performed publicly in several well-known venues. They
are currently working on their first album. Jonathan Lawson-saxes; Ryan Taylor-piano;
Evan Rindler-drums; Patrick Fowler-bass/guitar; David Udwin-guitar; Burak Demir-percussion
/bass/keyboard/vocals; Matt Rosenfeld-saxes
T.R.I.B.E Inc. consists primarily of jazz or jazz-fusion musicians who met in high
school. They also cover a large number of related genres, inclyuding soul, latin
funk, rock, and more. All members are completing their degrees in music; their album,
"Road to Destiny", should be available on iTunes this Spring. Reginald Payne-bass/music

Slick Hampton is about juxtapositions, mixing unlikely styles and genres, playing
what they think sounds good, and hoping people get it-and they do. Whether it's a
funk interpretation of of a Johnny Cash tune, or a Latin version of a'30s gypsy jazz
